I would say I am a spiritual person – open minded about all the possibilities that the world has to offer.
That said, I’m not into religion, but I do believe in the Power of the Universe. Which is a religion in itself, thinking about it.
I believe that the way we speak, act and think can have an impact on the way our life pans out. A bit like certain actions can result in certain consequences, but a bit less black and white.
That doesn’t mean to say that I believe in destiny or fate in the traditional sense. I believe it’s more that we have the potential to be or becoming something, but then it is our responsibility to find out what it is we are to become, and try our utmost to get there. I hope you’re still following. It was a chance meeting with Melanie Pledger, that these ideas began to solidify; scribbling down her name and subsequently underlining it as very important. I could feel – at the time, much more thought – that there was so much synergy in what we were doing and where we were going. If you’re starting to feel that I’m getting all wishy-washey please bear with me. Trust me, there is method to my madness.
Fast forward a few weeks, and we both discovered something that’s very small in size but has a very big significance as events pan out.
We had made note of each other’s names near enough the same time. You could say it was meant to be.
Melanie turned out to be the founder of a company called DNA Lightup. Each letter of the acronym stands for a different stage of the process that the service takes you through: Discover, Ngage and Activate.
Again, there is a method to my madness.
I got so much out of my sessions that I thought it deserved sharing. Especially as it has the potential to help you!
They promise that you’ll ‘feel lighter in three sessions, shine brighter for life’. There is, of course, a money back guarantee if you don’t feel better after the three sessions, but I don’t think you’ll be needing that.
DNA as an organisation (at the moment) is digitally based worldwide. A person who is trained to take you through the process rediscovering your center of being is called an ‘Activator’. They are a growing team, working with businesses, individuals and schools; all in the hope of improving your mental health and wellbeing.
One of the key takeaways from the whole experience is that we all have a power within us – that we can tap into whenever we feel ourselves losing our sense of self.
This is an exercise or ‘sense of being’ that nobody can take away from us – making me, personally, feel less anxious. But it is my responsibility to keep in touch with it. That’s a good thing, because it minimises the chance of becoming complacent.

The biggest lesson that I’ve learnt is that all the power and strength you need is drawn from within yourself. This feeling comes from something called ‘Hara’ (the area between your chest and diaphragm, behind the belly button). This is our center of balance; Google will send you down a very interesting rabbit hole.
That is where our energy or spirit resonates. I choose to call it energy because it reminds me that I am in control, rather than something controlling me. But the way our center of balance feels, and presents itself, differs per individual.
Just as an example, I found that my energy is made up of the colours blue and red. Without realising it beforehand, I had subconsciously surrounded myself with lots of blues, reds and some white.
Funny, eh?
Whatever life throws at you – whether it is your fault or not – you have your energy or soul. Always there to remind you who and what you are. As you go through the program (which highly suggest you try, by the way!) you’ll begin to realise how all that I’m saying fits together to create a sense of security and fulfilment. I have this feeling that I am holding myself back for whatever reason, whether that be fear or self doubt. Tapping into who I truly am reminds me of why I started something in the first place. Going through Lightup has renewed my sense of determination and passion.
For example, the other day I was starting to doubt my freelancing ability and whether I was just ‘kidding myself’. Despite still feeling panicky and worried (this isn’t about becoming a ‘higher being’), I was able to tap into my energy, and put a strategy in place to deal with it quicker. I was able to break down those barriers. First reflecting on how far I’ve actually come, but also consider the best course of action. With this new sense of security and guidance, I have felt my self worth and confidence picking up, improving more and more. I have felt much less anxious about trying new things.
Going into this, I was as sceptical as you are probably thinking I’ve got a screw lose. But I promise you, it’ll all make sense if you give it a try.
Feel free to contact DNA Lightup if my post has sparked your interest!
