I understand where the sentiment of having a full-time job may sacrifice the quality of your work comes from. Working itself is mentally draining, and therefore, by the time you get home, you don't have the same time and energy that you may have if you were writing full-time. However, the reality for many writers is that we do need a full-time job to supplement the writing.

I definitely do know what I'm talking about in terms of editing blog posts and shorter form content. However, I don't necessarily have the most experience with longer form writing and editing, such as novels. So, this post is generalised editing tips and tricks that I have picked up along the way.
