Childhood
From childhood, all we want to do grow up.
It is natural,
After all, it is the course of life
From adulthood, we want to regress to childhood.
It is a hopelessly hopeful conundrum.
We want what we cannot have,
because we have seen what has gone before,
and we can't have what we had before.
It reminds us in the moment to be grateful for what we have.
From childhood we want to explore,
for our curiosity knows no bounds,
we eat at the pages of life like hounds,
desperate to discover its secrets
Overtime, we are taught
what is sensible and what is not,
we are taught our inhibitions,
we are taught to lean towards logic rather than human curiosity,
creativity,
freedom.
We are taught to lose the sparkle in our eyes
And yet, as adults,
we want to explore the world as we did as a child,
the irony is, where we once lacked independence and the ability to apply knowledge,
we are now trapped within our day-to-day lives,
trying to keep ourselves alive
