My age does not necessarily determine my level of ability and skill…
I came across a post on LinkedIn where the said person was talking about the barriers they have faced due to assumptions about their age.
In a comment, I stopped myself saying that I was 'only' 19.
Do you know why?
Because I am putting myself out there, fully prepared to make mistakes - but also learn along the way.
In many ways, I am ahead of my peers (not that it's a competition, but it can feel like we are all in one big race to get there first. Wherever 'there' is).
I am walking my own path, using my skills and strengths to my advantage.
My age does not necessarily determine my ability.
Nor my ability to learn.
Whatever stage we are at in life, we all have things to learn.
Besides, I definitely feel that my physical disability and everything that I've been through, has only strengthened my resolve to succeed and do well for myself.
To help others.
I know I can write better than someone who for writing is perhaps not a strength, but that doesn’t make me the best writer to ever live (nearly, though).
My skills and talent are being offered.
My writing out there to be read.
I've had people tell me that I write with the insight, wisdom, and skill of someone who is at least 30 years older.
Do you see what I mean?
And with time my skills will develop and grow to be better than, even, they are now.
I will say it again: my age does not necessarily determine my level of ability and skill (or lack thereof).
